Although queer people referred to them as &#8216;gay marriages&#8217; the government at the time let them know that it was not a formal marriage. Kinda way to appease LGBTQ couples without causing any controversy. And it wouldn&#8217;t be until March of 2014 that actual same sex ceremonies would take place. Better late than never.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most high profile couples to have both a civil ceremony and a &#8216;real&#8217; marriage in the UK was of course <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hellomagazine.com\/brides\/20211221129417\/elton-john-david-furnish-wedding-connection-prince-charles-duchess-camilla\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Elton John <\/a>and his partner David Furnish. They had two ceremonies. Both enjoy having their families get together. Both <a href=\"https:\/\/gaydar.com\/index.php\/2022\/01\/25\/lgbtq-lovers-slammer-juggalo-gay-models\/\">love<\/a> getting all dressed up. The gay duo even wore matching coronations on their suits. At one point they were going to wear the same color suits. However during the wedding planning they decided against it. Being that they have unique tastes they wanted to express their individuality. Popping a bottle of the bubbly they pose for some selfies that they will save for future viewing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meeting all those years ago their relationship wasn&#8217;t a surprise for their close friends. Most knew that this pair was destined to be together for a long time.
